Exploring issues, sharing perspectives

The current climate in which arts organizations operate is volatile.

Never before have people had so many choices of how to spend their leisure time. And leisure time itself is more compressed than ever.

The proliferation of arts and culture organizations has made the competition for funding more intense - at a time when public funding is stagnant or scaled back.

Because developments surface so quickly, MAACC works to shed new light on the issues and challenges facing metro Atlanta's arts and culture organizations, as well as the attitudes and perceptions of arts patrons. We serve as an advocate for the arts by:

  • Conducting and publishing original research, such as a survey on metro Atlantans' perceptions of the value of arts and funding for arts and culture programs.

  • Convening groups and individuals to address regional issues in new and cohesive ways.

  • Working with education leaders in the region and state to expand and integrate arts education in order to heighten student achievement.

  • Speaking to dozens of organizations about the profound impact of the arts on the economy, education and community building.
